Sunday, May 20 – Eat, Drink and Benefit Girls on the Run

On Sunday, May 20th, Noon-8:00 p.m., our friends at Florentine’s Ristorante & Sports Bar in Belmont will donate 15% of your bill to benefit Kent County Girls on the Run. Please mention Girls on the Run, bring a copy of this ad, or use your smartphone and show this post to your server.

Running 5/3 River Bank Run? Run for KCGOTR!

Be a Charity Runner for KCGOTR

If you’re running in the Fifth Third River Bank Run this year, you can run as a charity runner to support Kent County Girls on the Run (KCGOTR).

  • When you come to “Charity Partner” on the registration form, choose “Kent County Girls on the Run.”
  • Make a donation to qualify for race-related incentives or commit to raising pledges through your participation. Every little bit helps.
  • If you’ve already registered for the run and did not choose a Charity Partner, just send us an email letting us know you’d like to be a charity runner for KCGOTR. You can contact us by email at director@kcgotr.org or at program.kcgotr@gmail.com.
  • We’ll add your name to our list and send you information about raising pledges and the various incentives offered for helping us raise funds.

 

Charity Runner Benefits

KCGOTR charity runners who raise funds receive:

  • An introductory packet to use to gather pledges.
  • An exclusive invitation for runners and family members to our Charity Village tent the day of the race where we will have food, beverages and more!
  • Gear storage the day of the race.
  • Thank you cards to send to donors (upon request).
  • With a $40 fund raising goal, you will be entered to win a RBR registration.
  • For those raising at least $100 by April 22, 2012, all of the above plus:
    • A KCGOTR Technical T-shirt
    • A complimentary KCGOTR Celebration 5K Run Entry (Saturday, May 19, 2012 at East Kentwood High School)

Let’s Celebrate!

Put this on your calendar now! On Saturday, May 19, approximately 1,700 Kent County girls will mark the completion of the Girls on the Run® training program training program with a 5K celebration run.

The run takes place at East Kentwood High School, located at 6230 Kalamazoo Avenue Southeast. The event starts promptly at 9:30 a.m. Refreshments will be provided for all participants.

Register to Run

To run with the girls, you must be 18 years or older. Online registration for this non-competitive, untimed event is $25 before May 16. Late registration is $28 and will be available at packet pick up.

The registration fee includes a commemorative shirt and post-run refreshments. All proceeds go directly to supporting KCGOTR.

Please note: No strollers, in-line skates, bicycles or pets are allowed on the course.

Packet pick up will be available at Gazelle Sports located at 3930 28th Street in Grand Rapids in on Friday, May 18, 2012 from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. and at East Kentwood High School the day of the event from 7:30 – 9:00 a.m.

Feel good Sundays in April – Yoga and GOTR

Every Sunday night at 7:30 p.m. in April, the public is invited to drop by Funky Buddha Yoga Hothouse and take a class for $5. Proceeds benefit KCGOTR.

Located at 1331 Lake Drive SE in Grand Rapids, Funky Buddha supports a different charity each month. The Sunday evening Power Vinyasa class is a basic yoga class that is ideal for people who want to lose weight increase strength and flexibility, cross-train, sharpen their mental focus or simply get some much needed “me” time.

Announcing our 2012 Teams

Kent County Girls on the Run is excited to announce the list of sites for the Spring 2012 season.

We will have 72 participating schools with 127 teams!

We look forward to getting to seeing our returning coaches and getting to know the new ones.
