Live. Dream. Learn. Run.

That’s what Kent County Girls on the Run® (KCGOTR) is about.

We envision a world where every girl knows and activates her limitless potential and is free to boldly pursue her dreams.

It’s here! Saturday, May 19, 2012 is our 5k Celebration event!

You are welcome to download the event program and schedule.

Our girls, liaisons, coaches, volunteers, family and friends will celebrate the rewards of our 2012 season. We are excited to welcome all of our Kent County teams, with their families and friends, to the course at East Kentwood High School. We are excited to announce that 500 adult runners are joining the celebration. Thank you to everyone for your love of running and support of Girls on the Run. Special thanks to our local 5k sponsors including Priority Health, Meijer, Gazelle Sports and Magna Mirrors. View all of our local sponsors by clicking on the 5k sponsor link.

KCGOTR President Evy Houser and Sydnie Wade from our team at Excel Charter Academy joined Shelley Irwin on WGVU Radio today. See all three at the KCGOTR 5K Celebration Run this Saturday, May 19 at East Kentwood High School.

KCGOTR is the Kent County chapter of Girls on the Run® International, a nonprofit program designed to help pre-teen girls build confidence, strengthen their self-image and develop healthy life skills.

With the help of hundreds of volunteer team liaisons and coaches, we combine training for a 5K (3.1 mile) run/walk with a series of engaging, fun lessons that inspire girls to make a difference in their own lives and in the lives of others. The program culminates with a non-competitive 5K celebration run/walk ― a capstone event that helps participants realize the power they have to achieve their goals.

Programs are available for girls in grades 3-5 (spring) and grades 6-8 (known as Girls on Track® and held in the fall).
