We are excited to announce that Kent County Girls on the Run has been chosen to participate with Girls on the Run International in a pilot season of a brand new Girls on Track curriculum.

The Girls on Track season will coincide with the Girls on the Run season for the Spring of 2015.

Site applications for NEW sites can be found here  and returning site applications can be found here.

Girls on the Run is a transformational physical activity based positive youth development program for girls in 3rd-8th grade. We teach life skills through dynamic interactive lessons and running games. The program culminates with the girls being physically and emotionally prepared to complete a celebratory 5k running event. The goal of the program is to unleash confidence through accomplishment while establishing a lifetime appreciation of health and fitness.

Girls on the Run is an Independent Council of Girls on the Run International, which has a network of over 200 councils  across the United States and Canada.

With the help of hundreds of volunteer team liaisons and coaches, we combine training for a 5K (3.1 mile) run/walk with a series of engaging, fun lessons that inspire girls to make a difference in their own lives and in the lives of others.

The program culminates with a non-competitive 5K celebration run/walk ― a capstone event that helps participants realize the power they have to achieve their goals.

GOTR Programs are available for girls in grades 3-5 (spring) and grades 6-8 (known as Girls on Track® and held in the fall).
